Why Should I Choose A Gas Rewards Credit Card?

Posted: Dec 28, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Credit card offers with all sorts of rewards exist in abundance in todays credit market. Rewards credit cards are also available in many different categories. However, some of the most popular sought after rewards credit card categories are airlines and gasoline. A Gas rewards card can offer consumers many benefits as well as a substantial savings at the pump. Gasoline prices vary based on prices set forth by supply and demand. When the supply goes up, Gasoline prices are sure to follow. As demand softens, gasoline prices will go down. However, in the long run gasoline prices always go up. A gas rewards charge card is worth your while so long as you know when to expect.

A rewards credit card can be found from various providers. You can obtain a gas card from companies who provide us with our oil products such as Texaco or Exxon Mobil. On the other hand, you can also get a gas rewards charge card from a card issuer such as Discover or Chase. You will have more flexibility if you choose a gas rewards credit card from a credit provider such as the ones mentioned above. An Exxon Mobil card can only be used at Exxon Mobil filing stations for the most part. A rewards credit card such as the Discover Open Road Card can be used everywhere from the filling station to your favorite department stores. You will not be able to use your Texaco card at Macy's. On the other hand, your Discover gas cards are accepted at both places.

The biggest benefit that a rewards card can offer any consumer is a savings at the gasoline pump. Every time you use your rewards credit card to fill up your car or SUV you will earn rewards points that can be used towards gift cards or even cash back depending on who your credit card provider might be. The savings benefit you get with your gasoline rewards card will add up after a period of about a year,

The gasoline card from a gas provider is less expensive than a traditional rewards credit card. Your Exxon Mobil credit card is going to have a less expensive interest rate than your Discover Open Road gas rewards credit card. The Discover card does require better credit in order to qualify. The Exxon Mobil card is easier to get as far as your credit rating is concerned. You can use an Exxon Mobil or Texaco gas credit card as way to improve your credit score as well.

Before you apply for any gas rewards credit card be sure to do your home work first. Gas rewards card features such as interest rates will vary according to provider. Make sure that you have read well the terms and conditions before you go ahead and apply for any card. The terms and conditions will explain all the necessary details that you need to be aware of such as late fees, over the limit fees, interest rates or even how you can go about redeeming your rewards points. One thing that you need to do is always be sure and pay your balance on time or you will run the risk of loosing your rewards points.

One thing that should never be forgotten is that gas rebates need to be redeemed like any other rewards category. Another thing to look for in a gas rewards credit card is spending caps. Many rewards charge card providers will limit the amount of reward points that you can earn with that card each year. Other gas rewards credit card providers do not put any limits on the amount of points that you are able to earn. This will vary from provider to provider and should be looked over thoroughly. Those who spend the majority of their time in their vehicle driving around will benefit the most. On the other hand, if you are not someone who spends a lot of time on the road, perhaps you might want to look for another rewards category.
