Identity thefts are spreading all over the world now. There are more umber of victims and they are from every part of the globe.  Identity theft has stroked every field and sector and there is no such single field that have not affected by identity theft. People from every age group and profession have experienced identity theft problems. Even house wives have experienced it which shows that it is not that you get affected by going into public places.

Criminals are everywhere and they can steal your identity just by observing you without your knowledge. College identity theft is such a growing problem and has affected many in most of the colleges. In college and campus, we observe many students worried about things such as accommodation, tuition classes, adjusting the budget, financial help, books and many such day to day needs. Most of them have to manage in very tight financial positions and hence do not have credit cards and other related things.

Hence they think that there is no need to worry about things like identity theft. But college identity theft is not for money, it is something more than that. College student are prone to such identity thefts in many aspects. Many companies come up with many exciting offers for students every day. Students often ignore such offers and some of them fill up half of the form and rest half is thrown in dustbin. This is chance for the thieves to get that half filled form and fill rest of it to activate particular service.

Credit lending companies are many who give credit offer to students because they are always in need of immediate money. Imagine what will happen if your half filled form of credit giving company is acquired by such a thief. He can activate that credit plan and can have huge credit amounts o your name. This may cause a great mishap. Another such carelessly handled document which proved to be dangerous is the bank statements.

Students often make mistakes while referring to account statements and you may ask someone to help you out. But always ensure that the helper is bank staff person only. Other person may be a thief and can have wrong information filled by you and which he can gain profit afterwards.

Threat prone areas

Another such careless thing to do is about your college or institution identification number. Every student has his own identification number which has all personal information about the student. Such information is always needed by thieves. You have to be very careful while entering such number. There could be thief watching you entering you the identification number and then he can operate your account on your behalf to get all your private information. Computers and laptops should also be very carefully handled as they store your information also about your educational history.
