Marbella Beach
Location
Barcelona has many lovely beaches and one of them is Marbella Beach. The beach is located in the district called Sant Marti, between Nova Mar Bella and Bogatell beaches. It has a length of 512 m and an average width of 42 m. It is twenty minutes away from the city center and 3 kilometers away from the statue of Christopher Columbus that was found in the nearby port. In order to reach the beach, visitors can take buses, metro - Selva de Mar, or a tram - Selva de Mar.
Overview
Like the majority of the beaches in the city, Marbella Beach has also become a tourist attraction after the Olympic Games which were held in Barcelona in 1992. Before this event, the Olympic village had been built close to the beaches. Today, this village is a tourist attraction. With many bars, restaurants and shops, it is the perfect place to escape from the sun in the late afternoon hours. As a part of the preparation for the Olympics, all the beaches were arranged around the Olympic village. Till today, they are well maintained on a regular basis during the whole year and especially during summer. Along the beach, there are a promenade and a bicycle path. Thus, the beach is also accessible by bike. This beach also provides its visitors with many aquatic sports and leisure activities. Promenade and bicycle path are suitable for walking, jogging, skating and roller driving. The nautical base is located nearby, so the visitors have the opportunity to practice water sports such as pedal craft, water bicycle and diving. This is also a place where they can rent all the necessary equipment and take lessons for the beginners. On the beach, they can play ping-pong, volleyball, basketball or football on the sand.
Marbella Beach also has a small part reserved for small children. It has an area for the children to play and several other facilities. This beach has another specialty as well. For those who like nudity, apart from the San Sebastian beach, this is the perfect place to visit. Even though it has been an officially legalized nudist beach since 1996, there are many tourists who are not nude. The beach has lifeguards, parking places, many fountains with drinking water, changing rooms, showers and toilets. It is forbidden to take pets to the beach and to use soap in the water.
