Sail on Msc Cruises Spectacular Winter Sailings to Quebec and New York City

Cruise Line to Begin Sailings from New York City, Quebec in 2010

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (JANUARY 9, 2009) – MSC Cruises, long a leader in the European cruise market and a growing presence in the Caribbean cruise winter market, will be adding Canada and New England cruises to its offerings in 2010.

MSC Magnifica, currently under construction and scheduled to debut in March 2010, will be sailing a series of Fall Foliage cruises from both New York City and Quebec in the fall of 2010 before sailing to Fort Lauderdale to join MSC Lirica for the 2010-11 Caribbean cruise season.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for residents of the Northeastern United States and Canada to enjoy an MSC Cruises experience on one of the line’s newest and most elegant cruise ships without having to add in the cost and time of airfare,” says Richard E. Sasso, president and CEO of MSC Cruises (USA), Inc.

He adds, “MSC Magnifica is ideal for Fall Foliage cruises. With nearly 80 percent outside staterooms and a magrodome (retractable roof over the swimming pool), guests can appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature throughout the cruise.”

MSC Magnifica, which is scheduled to debut in March 2010, will depart Venice on Sept. 4, 2010 on an 18-night transatlantic cruise to New York City. Along the way, it will call at Bari, la Vallette, Malaga, Cadiz, Lisbon, Ponta Delgada and King’s Wharf (Bermuda), arriving in New York City on Sept. 22.

The cruise ship will then sail the following itineraries for Canada and New England cruises:

  • 10 night roundtrip, departing Sept. 22 and calling in Sydney, Charlottetown, Quebec, Halifax and Newport

  • 7 night New York City to Quebec, departing Oct. 2 and calling in Halifax, Charlottetown and Corner Brook

  • 7 night Quebec to New York City, departing Oct. 9 and calling in Sydney, Bar Harbor, Boston and Newport

  • 7 night New York City to Quebec, departing Oct. 16 and calling in Halifax, Sydney and Charlottetown

  • 9 night Quebec to Fort Lauderdale, departing Oct. 23 and calling in Sydney, Boston, Newport and New York City

The cruise itineraries can be combined, making them ideal for those who want a longer, roundtrip experience or even a 16-night cruise from New York City to Fort Lauderdale.

A Personal View Of An Alaskan Cruise

By: Cliff Redgrave | 29/12/2009
The earlier unaccompanied group, on the first sailing in May, had even more sunshine. This trip was, for Rose and I, the holiday of a lifetime. I dislike long-haul flying. That's why we, and 17 other 'followers', decided to have four nights in Las Vegas followed by three nights in San Francisco. Let's put our pre-cruise story to bed quickly.

River Cruise On An Ocean Liner

By: Cliff Redgrave | 29/12/2009
when you float a 122,000-ton ship out of the shipyard into the tiny river Ems, that saying as you can imagine, comes easily to mind. There really was not much more than a hand's breadth of clearance. And if it was tight below, it was not much better either side.

There are now a glut of boat trips throughout Thailand to suit all tastes. Nearer to home the popular Sunday excursions to Bang Pa In as well as the daily Ayutthaya trips with Pearl of Siam, River Sun Oriental Queen, are complemented by the overnight Manohra and Mekhala rice barge trips.

Obviously, you want to choose a destination before you do anything else. Alaskan and Caribbean cruises have been favorites traditionally, but cruise lines have been adding exotic locales to their assortment in recent years, including Asia, South America, and Eastern Europe.

By: Phil Adams-Wright | 23/12/2009
Holidays are a highly personal thing; lots of people will have destinations in mind whereas others will simply go to their local travel agents and choose whichever destination has the best deals on. Some people like places they have been to in the past that they are happy going back year after year, and some people want to visit somewhere new and different to broaden their horizons.
