As a spiritual-futurist, I interpret current events in light of possible macro-universal forces at play leading up to 2012, but not limited to it.
For too long science and spirit (religion) have been separated. More than separated they have been the opposite ends of the pole. and while I understand one deals is WHAT, while the other one deals in WHY, there's no need for the agitation and division. It's ALL GOD! One of the things that I believe we're going to be seeing over the next four years is a merging and a marriage of those two perceived opposities.
Quantum physics already has scientists moving towards spirituality. Now that they have discovered that things don't and aren't working (at the micro levels at least) as they had postulated, they're left scratching their collective heads. The non local events that they're discovering has many of them looking to the Spirit for answers that their minds can't fathom.
At the same time, the world is getting smaller and religions around the world are having to share space with the religion next door. As that happens, many are finding out that besides the fact that there is ONE God, there seems to be more commonality among us all than we once thought! So much for fundamentalists (in every religion).
In the meantime, discovering between now and 2012 (that I see happening or fast developing) will change the whole way society, culture, and religions think. Such cutting-edge inventions such as quantum computing, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, dark energy advancement, levitation principles, epigenetic progress, and sound-light healing will all awaken the consciousness of haumanhood and propel us into a new dimension of earth living.
Oh yeah, and then there might be some major bumps along the way, over the next four years, that FORCE us to deal with our humanity in ways we've avoided up until now. :-(
