Are Physicician's Relationships To Pharmaceutical Companies Unhealthy For Their Patients? (PartTwo)

Posted: Mar 06, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

In my last article I focused on the huge incentives that pharmaceutical companies invest to win the loyalty of virtually all physicians in this country (94%).  I also stated that research indicates that these perks play a major role in influencing the prescription practices of most doctors regardless of the best interest of the patient.  It is very unlikely that your doctor is able to make the best possible prescription for healing what ails you when his or her vision is blurred by large monetary gifts and incentives from the pharmaceutical companies who stand to make huge profits if only your doctor prescribes their drug.

Statin Drugs Are Not The Answer

It is my firm belief that statin drugs are never the answer or cure to any health concern that you might be facing at this very moment. When a doctor is quick to give a statin drug to effect healing of your physical body you can rightly suspect that he or she does not have any real understanding as to the merits of the drug in relation to your ailment but has rather been sold (large money has been spent to buy him or her) on the fact that this should be your prescription.  I cannot judge his or her exact motivation for prescribing a statin drug but I can say that research has shown that your doctor is not prescribing it because it is the best medicine for your health but because your doctor has been persuaded to do so by pharmaceutical companies who have a vested interest in your prescription.

The Effect Of This Drug Mentality On Health Care In America

America is sadly just about the unhealthiest country in the world. This is an even sadder fact since we are at the same time the most affluent nation on earth.  We enjoy fast food, five minute microwave dishes, and quick fixes, whether they be in regards to weight loss or any other aspect of vanity and appearance based considerations.  This same type of quick fix thinking is reflected in our culture of consuming statin drugs prescribed by our physicians or bought from the pharmacy based on your physicians word, or on faith in the testimony of the  latest celebrity who has been contracted by the big drug company to sell you their drug.

This persuation has precipitated the national health crisis that we face in this country.  We spend more for health care per capita then any nation on earth and yet we continue to be the most unhealthy country on earth.  We have turned our health over to big business and the government and now have conclusive proof that these agencies do not now, nor ever will have our best interests at heart.

"Let Food Be Thy Medicine, And Medicine Thy Food"

This quote from the great Hippocrates should be the starting point for health care reform in this country.  It is only when we as a nation begin to allow whole living foods from God's Garden and wise healthy lifestyle choices to be our primary medicine that we as a nation will experience a true health awakening and end the health care debate which has produced no appreciable benefit whatsoever.

Above all it is important to realize that there is a great conflict of interest in relation to your health care when physicians are paid huge amounts of dollars to become spokesmen and representatives of big pharmaceutical companies and their products.  This should be an obvious fact and should no longer go unheeded.

Take charge of your own health through dietary and lifestyle changes and quit placing your life into the hands of doctors who have already been bought out by billion dollar pharmaceutical companies.  We can heal this great country one person at a time if we all do our part.

When woman was created, God made her different from man. I think God also created the word for teasing - ribbing.

A great deal has been made of in alternative archaeology books about how and why our technologically primitive ancestors were able to carve out, transport and erect massive multi-ton stone blocks into megalithic monuments. Since there is no doubting the existence of these structures, our ancestors must of in fact possessed an advanced technology or had assistance from those who did (i.e. – ‘ancient astronauts'). That runs contrary to scholarly archaeology. But the questions remain.

I recently read an article which was medically reviewed by a doctor who had an impressive bunch of letters behind his name. The article was basically stating that alternative methods for dealing with high cholesterol are possible but at the end of the reading experience it becomes clear that the article was really there to tout the benefits of statin drugs for lowering cholesterol while diminishing the benefits of dietary and lifestyle changes.

In a sense I am thankful that the food pyramid so long in use has been changed to a simple plate icon called MyPlate according to the first lady, Michelle Obama. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are the main staple on this plate and that is a good thing. I certainly don't agree with everything on the plate if meat is the means by which we are supposed to get our protein needs filled, nor is milk a wise choice for the vast majority of people since almost everyone is lactose intolerant...

An E. coli outbreak in Europe has claimed the life of over twenty people and as of yet the cause is unknown. One thing is for sure, however, only a fool would place the blame on vegetables. It has never been a plant derived disease and never will be. Meat is the culprit and always has been.

Another Memorial Day has come and gone and I was reflecting on some of my past blogs which stand as a testament to the freedoms of expression I enjoy here in easy living America. Many of these freedoms, I am ashamed to confess, I take for granted throughout the year. Memorial Day seems to me to be the best time to reflect on the issues of freedom and democracy that I give little attention or thanksgiving for throughout most of the year.

If one had to name a Hot Dog season in the U.S. then that season would run from Memorial Day to Labor Day. In this stretch of time Americans will consume over seven billion hot dogs. With such a tremendous level of hot dog consumption (around 820 per second) it should be a no-brainer to desire to know what it is we Americans will be putting into our mouths over this period.
