Be strong to meet the 3 aspects in life – Role, Responsibility, Stress level

A new baby arrived, now is a family of three. When the baby grows to become a toddler, mummy and daddy have got a twin brother and sister to the family. The toddler now is a big brother to the two siblings. He is expected to take care of the younger siblings. His role has progressed from being the son to a big brother.

Soon it is time to enroll for school, as the role of a school pupil, he is expected to behave well in public when he is wearing school uniform, not to tarnish the school reputation, but to uplift the school image if he did and perform well in school academically or in public.

At home, he continued to be the children of the family, to behave well and live to the expectation of the parents, take care of the twin siblings, and at the same time take care of his own school work. His responsibilities increased, and stress level also. If a fight went on with the children at home, he does not have to be the one creating the chaos in the fight or quarrels, however the one to be blame or canned will normally be the big brother. Even if the naughtiest ones are his siblings, as a bigger child in the family, you need to be the one to sacrifice and surrender your needs to the younger ones. Fulfilled the needs of brother and sister are your responsibilities. Therefore, the big brother is feeling the stress even at this young age.As he is living in a big city, there are many houses around them.

He is a neighbor to all other households near his home. He greets them and played with the kids around, he is a good neighbor and as friend. As he reached to puberty age, his puppy love may develop, and he has a girl-friend, and taking care of his girl-friend is now his role as a boyfriend. In courtship, quarrels or small tiff may come up, and he as a guy has to give in and to appease his honey, so that is happy ending again. His life responsibility and stress level is again increased. He is a child of the parent, a big brother to his siblings, a classmate to his schoolmates, a school pupil, a friend to outside school mates, a neighbor to other households.

At the end of adolescence, he went into the workforce and is an IT software engineer. After few years of working, he is financial stable, he marry the love of his life. They had children, and he is now a father, and a husband. His siblings married, and he as the older child of the family, the parent chose to stay with his new form family. His role and responsibility and stress level became more and more. He got to feed the family, love and provide for his wife, educated the children. He is sandwiched between his mum and his wife when quarrels or miscommunications happen, he has to pacify these two women, and he needs to ensure family harmony and financial security, played a part to form a happy family.

At work, he is the superior of his subordinates, be responsible for the company he worked under, be answered for the performance of his team. At the economy downturn, his company sent a memo that retrenchment may happen, he has to appease the worries of his subordinates and continue to perform for the company although he too worry for his own-self. What a stressful life!

His role and responsibility and stress level became more and more. All this sound too familiar? Everyone of our role, responsibility, and stress level has been increasing and increasing as we progressed to difference stages of life. Therefore we need to learn to stay relax and free ourselves away from stress as much as possible, so that we will not be a victim of depression and continue to stay happy and strong for the love ones around us.
