Classroom Donations Can Go A Long Way To Helping Students Succeed

Posted: Apr 06, 2010 |

School donations are critical to a school's success these days.  In our society today, not many people realize the importance of properly educating all of our students so that these young citizens are prepared to make the tough decisions of tomorrow.  Anyone who cares about supporting education and teachers should consider making a school donation of some sort, no matter how big or small.  Many of the donors who do recognize the importance and urgency of the matter choose to use the Adopt-A-Classroom program.  They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing opportunity for student success by empowering teachers with community partners and the funds needed to purchase resources for the classroom. The program works when you select a classroom and make school donations for the teacher to use for the learning materials that improve the curriculum. As a donor, you may search for classrooms by geography, school name, teacher name or other search criteria through the Classroom Locator on the Adopt-A-Classroom website.  If you have no preference for the type or location of the classroom, Adopt-A-Classroom partners you with an underserved classroom in the community.

Adopt-A-Classroom directs 100% of the school donations earmarked for classrooms to the teacher in the form of online credit. Adopt-A-Classroom does not take out any money for their administration. Then, the teacher can use the credit to make purchase online from a network of affiliate vendors that have partnered with Adopt-A-Classroom, there are vendors such as School Specialty, Scholastic, OfficeMax, Encyclopaedia Britannica, among others. It is up to the teacher to decide on the most beneficial way to use the school donations.  A new feature with the program now allows teachers to add funds by credit card in case they don't have enough in their account to cover a purchase.

There is always 100% accountability and transparency. Adopt-A-Classroom sends each donor an "Impact Report" which details item-by-item, dollar-for-dollar what the teacher purchased so the donor knows how the school donations are spent.  Donors and teachers communicate throughout the school year to give donors the opportunity to learn about the difference they have made in the lives of the students.  Donors receive a variety of thank you packages, including artwork and other student created projects. If you choose to support your adopted classroom in extra ways beyond the monetary contribution, you may organize extra activities between yourself and the teacher, for example: visiting the classroom or chaperoning field trips or other activities. Through your efforts, you are also helping to teach students about philanthropy and public service.

Many donors make recurring school donations through Adopt-A-Classroom and they enjoy the cumulative effect of their efforts with each new class of students.  This is something that will help you potentially develop a lasting and meaningful relationship with the classroom teacher. To learn more about how you can support a teacher and classroom of students, you can go to AdoptAClassroom.org.  When you choose to help out by making school donations, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you made a contribution to a worthy cause and that you have improved the lives of 25 students and their teacher.

A great deal has been made of in alternative archaeology books about how and why our technologically primitive ancestors were able to carve out, transport and erect massive multi-ton stone blocks into megalithic monuments. Since there is no doubting the existence of these structures, our ancestors must of in fact possessed an advanced technology or had assistance from those who did (i.e. – ‘ancient astronauts'). That runs contrary to scholarly archaeology. But the questions remain.
