Embracing our future
Big day yesterday. Finally, after three years in the job, movement on my third "P," Pushing forward. The release of Everyone, Every Way. It's a challenge to ourselves and to Canadians to rekindle the relationship we have with them.
There is so much more to it than the paper or the videos. So much work by so many, so many meetings, so much soul searching. Tough conversations, as we tried to align English and French media lines along the same priorities. Most difficult exercise that I ever experienced in my business life.
I have always believed that the public broadcaster had to mean something special to every one of us. It does to me. I grew up with it. It's like "mine." I wouldn't have taken this job if I hadn't felt that way. For me, it immediately resonates "trustworthy" and "quality" and a "safe place."
My job is now to ensure that our people embrace it for the right reasons, and to take it on the road so that Canadians "see" our vision of our relationship with them. I look forward to that challenge. I know that this will be a long road. Good thing I'm a marathoner.
