How To Choose Among Events In New York

Posted: Mar 16, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Whether you are a resident of New York, or a tourist, choosing among the plethora of events in New York can be bewildering. Doing some research online, or consulting friends, family, and colleagues can help you decide which ones to attend. Keep your interests in mind while you plan your schedule as well. Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade will be rerouting to Sixth Avenue this fall, after eighty six years at Times Square. New York City is identified with Times Square, so efforts are on to convince them to stay with the current destination. Depending on your location, this could be good or bad news for you.

If you like to be outdoors, you can attend film festivals held in the open, or music concerts. Landmarks like Empire State Building are lit up on special occasions, so visiting these with your family will be a memorable experience.

You can watch Broadway or off-Broadway plays, or attend concerts too in your neighborhood if these interest you. Consider subscribing to a guide, or sign up online to receive alerts about happenings in your area from a local website.

Mark the dates in your calendar, so that you can plan your work accordingly. Some events are free, like many film festivals. Broadway plays on the other hand, can stretch your budget. Read reviews of critics regarding plays, to decide whether they are worth watching.

Sports events can be fun to attend as well. Cheering your team on with other fans in a stadium, can recharge you if you are having a stressful time at work. These events are a good way to spend time together as a family.

A comedy night at a club, a debate on justice at a law school, or an open forum in a park can all appeal to you, depending on your interests. You may prefer attending events being held close to your home, as you will save time and energy you would spend travelling.

If the event is an annual one or special because a world famous celebrity is coming, consider making an extra effort to attend. It will refresh you, open your mind, and give you a chance to meet new people who share your interests.

New York events are numerous, so taking a little time to research options before you plan your weekend will pay off. You can then sit back, relax, and enjoy your evening.

A great deal has been made of in alternative archaeology books about how and why our technologically primitive ancestors were able to carve out, transport and erect massive multi-ton stone blocks into megalithic monuments. Since there is no doubting the existence of these structures, our ancestors must of in fact possessed an advanced technology or had assistance from those who did (i.e. – ‘ancient astronauts'). That runs contrary to scholarly archaeology. But the questions remain.
