In Bible versus Quran: God is very terrible in the Secret Counsel of His Holy ones

The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran (6)

This is the sixth article of the series:" The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran".  The Bible says that the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, has SONS but who among the sons of God is like the LORD? The Lord God is very terrible; He is fearful over all surrounding Him, He is the ruler over the pride of the sea. He crushed Rahab like one of the slain and scattered His enemies with His mighty arm.

  1. But what is the pride of the sea?  Also, Ahab is not mentioned therein.   In addition, Allah does not need to use a mighty arm to scattered His enemies; when He wants anything he just say: Be and it is as He wants.

The Sons of the Lord God in the Bible (6)

In Psalm 89:6-10 the Bible says:

For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD? Who among the Sons of God (sons of the mighty) is like the LORD, the Lord God is very terrible, In the secret counsel of His holy ones, And fearful over all surrounding Him.  O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds you.

O LORD God of hosts, You are the ruler over the pride of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them in the lifting up of its billows Thou dost restrain them. O LORD God of hosts, You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; you scattered your enemies with Your mighty arm.

Sons of God versus sons of the mighty:

The original Hebrew version says: Who among the Sons of God is like the LORD?

Herein again, the original word "Sons of God" is translated to five different translations, the nearest one of them is the "sons of the mighty".

The five different translations of the "Sons of God" in 18 Biblical versions:

In 18 different versions of the Bible, the word "Sons of God" is translated to five different translations; they are sons of the mighty (in seven versions), the heavenly beings (in seven versions), the angels (in two versions) and the holy angels and the mightiest angels in one version each..

If you smart reader is interested, have a look at these 18 different versions of the Bible at the site of BibleGateway.com.

On the other hand, the Bible does not tell the names of the Sons of the Lord God, the Bible also does not give the physical attributes of the Sons of the Lord God. In addition, the Bible does not tell what the number of the Sons of the Lord God was and how many they were?

In short, the Bible does not let us know who, how, when, where, how many etc. in respect to the Sons of the Lord God.

Furthermore, the Bible gives some informative details about the sons of Judah, for example, but does not give any details about the Sons of the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, who of course are very much more important than the sons of Judah.

Psalm 89:6-10 in five different versions of the Bible:

New International Version

6For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?

7In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.

8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

9 You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.

10 You crushed Rahab like one of the slain; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies.

New American Standard Bible

6For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD?Who among the sons of the mighty is like the LORD,

7A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones,And awesome above all those who are around Him?

8O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD?Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

9You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.

10You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.

English Standard Version

7a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him?

8O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD,with your faithfulness all around you?

9You rule the raging of the sea;when its waves rise, you still them.

10You crushed Rahab like a carcass;you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

King James Version

6For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

7God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.

8O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?

9Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.

10Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.

Young's Literal Translation

6For who in the sky, Compareth himself to Jehovah? Is like to Jehovah among sons of the mighty?

7God is very terrible, In the secret counsel of His holy ones, And fearful over all surrounding Him.

8O Jehovah, God of Hosts, Who [is] like Thee -- a strong Jah? And Thy faithfulness [is] round about Thee.

9Thou [art] ruler over the pride of the sea, In the lifting up of its billows Thou dost restrain them.

10Thou hast bruised Rahab, as one wounded. With the arm of Thy strength Thou hast scattered Thine enemies.

The Sons of the Lord God in the Quran (6)

On the other hand, the Quran makes it very clear and says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.

The Quran decisively forbids saying that Allah has a son.

It is not befitting for the Majesty of Allah to take to Himself a son.

Allah has not taken any son either from the Children of Adam or from the angels.

Allah is exalted, magnified, He is above what they associate with Him of son or partners.  Allah is far transcendent above all that they ascribe unto Him!

In Islam, this point is very important faith wise.

  1. Again, it is unforgivable sin to say or to believe that the One Almighty Creator [who is Allah or God or the Lord or Jehovah or whatever name(s) you are giving Him] has a son or Sons.

From the Islamic point of view, the conclusion of this essential topic that may establish or destroy the faith is that:

Any one who believe that the Almighty Creator has a son or Sons; he messes his faith up and is considered as a disbeliever and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the hell.

The meanings of verses 18:4-5:

The meanings of verse 18:4

And so that Muhammad warns by means of the Quran those, from among the disbelievers, who say: Allah has taken a son (or Allah has begotten a son).

The meanings of verse 18:5

In respect to this statement, they do not have any knowledge, nor did their fathers, before them, who also used to say this have any knowledge.

They have no proof or argument for what they claim

Dreadful, grave, is the word that comes out of their mouths that Allah has taken a son.

They speak nothing, thereby, but, an utterance of, lies.

They speak naught but a lie about Allah.

--------------------------------------------

Verses 18:4-5 of the Noble Quran in four different translations:

Verses 18:4

QARIB: and it (the koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son. '

SHAKIR: and warn those who say: Allah has taken a son

PICKTHAL: and to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son,

YUSUFALI: further, that he may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son":

Verses 18:5

QARIB: Surely, of this they have no knowledge, neither they nor their fathers; it is a monstrous word that comes from their mouths, they say nothing but a lie.

SHAKIR: they have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers; a grievous word it is that comes out of their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie

PICKTHAL: (a thing) whereof they have no knowledge, nor (had) their fathers, dreadful is the word that cometh out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie.

YUSUFALI: no knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. it is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood!
