Nadja Benaissa HIV Trial is an Opportunity for Deterrance
German pop star Nadja Benaissa confessed to hiding her HIV status from three men who she had unprotected sex when as her trial for inflicting grievous bodily harm on one man and endangering others began last week. The first man is now infected and the other two have yet to test positive. This case has the potential to send a scared straight message to other HIV carriers to tell their partners or else.
Its been all over the news that the former member of German girl pop group No Angels began her trial with a teary confession that she knowingly exposed three men to the HIV virus by having unprotected sex with them. She insists that she never intended to infect them, but like in all cases of recklessness intent to infect is irrelevant to the point that she failed in her responsibility to notify men who if like most rational people would have systematically eliminated her as a possible sex partner had they known about her HIV status. The notion of putting public health above all else seems lost to people in the liberal news media like Edwin J Bernard who tend to dwell on stigma in efforts to justify non-disclosure as if other peoples opinions about a disease could somehow be a greater concern than physical health.
With people like Benaissa endangering public health and people like Bernard defending people like her this trial presents a clear and present opportunity to crack down on dishonest HIV carriers in a way likely to strike fear into others to compel disclosure. A fear for their freedom so strong that it will override any social, political, or economic concerns. After all you can't suffer stigma in society if you are removed from it all together.
In closing the criminal HIV transmission trial of Nadja Benaissa presents a great opportunity to send a message sure to guarantee the voluntary disclosure of infected people to their partners. Instilling a fear of imprisonment that will override any social anxiety regarding stigma with a fear of not being in society at all will make any rational person with HIV or any other STD choose to play it safe to stay in society.

A great deal has been made of in alternative archaeology books about how and why our technologically primitive ancestors were able to carve out, transport and erect massive multi-ton stone blocks into megalithic monuments. Since there is no doubting the existence of these structures, our ancestors must of in fact possessed an advanced technology or had assistance from those who did (i.e. – ‘ancient astronauts'). That runs contrary to scholarly archaeology. But the questions remain.
