Rome & Atlantis

I am sure that there are many who see Atlantis and other ancient or lost civilizations as simply historical myths; however, the point will remain. Atlantis and Rome were destroyed in differing ways. But both were built on a paradigm that nations today have not grasped, deny, or really don't care. What can America and other nations today learn as we move forward into the infamous 2012 that will demand the opposite paradigm?

The Hittites, Maya, Inca, Persians, and so on all thought they knew how all others should live life and they did all that they could to FORCE their life style on others. America ins't as imperialistic as nations of the last three hundred years have been, but, trying to PUSH democracy on a nation like Iraq or Afghanistan when a theocracy is what their history embraces is arrogant at best.

Most wars have been fought for goals other than self preservation.

Hidden in the midst of many erroneous beliefs is also the biggie that we will go on forever. And it is here that the many thoughts and ideas about 2012 come into play. The world cried WOLF leading up to 2000. Can you say Y2K? Since there wasn't a computer failure, there surely won't be any catastrophies in 2012 either. Strange logic: no logic!

Our world has grown very small for an approaching seven billion people and resources are becoming more scarce and I'm not talking about oil, but water and the basic needs of life. We can ride bikes, but we can't do without water. If for no reason other than survival (be it 2010, 2012 or 2015), we need to quit trying to force our values on others regardless of how they compare (from our view point or theirs). And most importantly we need to come together to study our earth and then what's beyond our soalr system.

I'm not advocating a world government (can you say pathetic U.N.?), but a world OF governments who respect one another. Is that possible or just pollyanna dreaming? Regardless, I do believe that which we will not do voluntarily will one day soon be forced on us.

Time will tell.

I tried to give you five stars for your prophecies article and also this one, however you vote counter is too fast and quit at one star each time. Industralized consumerism for six billion people is impossible. We are at the end of a very shameful road, begun at the reformation in England then carried to America and beyond. All mainstream religions have been warned of enormous changes, leading to a spiritual golden age, that are already beginning. Best wishes.

I don't know if your at all familiar with the history of Rome but it did not fall because it forced its will on other nations. Rome fell because it crumbled from within. We can however learn alot from Rome in the aspect of immigration. Just like America today is being invaded by Mexicans who refuse to accept the American Culture, Rome was invaded by the Visigoths who claimed to share the same christian beliefes and values and swore to assimilate into the nation. However just like the Mexicans they did not assimilate, they abused the advantage of living in a civilized society and exploited to its core, until they divided the nation. Because of modern technology a group of people can no longer split a nation physicaly, however the same basic principles apply.
