There are lots of businesses out there that have horrible customer service, and I'm sure we can all think of a particular incident where we might not have gotten the service we feel we deserved. There are also lots of businesses out there that provide excellent customer service, and I'm sure those are places we don't mind going back to often, because good customer service makes a customer feel, well, good.
Personally, I think that customer service is one area you cannot cut corners on. Along with the quality of your product, the customer service you provide definitely goes home with your customer. If you were to go house shopping, most always the Realtor showing you the house is going to be over friendly, because that is their job, they need to you to feel comfortable with them if you're going to consider a purchase of a house. If the Realtor was a not friendly, it would be an obvious waste of time to continue with them.
I've will not mention names of companies that have not had the most positive impact on my consumer experience, but the companies that notably have been very helpful were Verizon, Incorporate Fast and the Elephant Bar Restaurant. These three companies all dealt great customer service in different ways:
Verizon is a company I deal with over the phone all the time, Incorporate Fast I've dealt with mostly through email communication and the Elephant Bar I deal with in person. All three of these companies provide great service and it's easy to see why people would go back.
Again, customer service should not be compromised.
