Temperature ceramic filters: a new standard in quality

Hot gas filtration is one of the most important and difficult cleaning processes in all of British industry. In simple terms, hot gas filtration is the act of removing pollutants, often extremely hazardous ones, from what are known as hot gas streams. A hot gas stream is the exhaust product of a process that occurs at or requires extreme temperatures: like burning bodies, for example or de-oxidising alloys. The normal way in which hot gas filtration is accomplished is by using high temperature ceramic filters – high performance devices that are capable of taking 100% of the dangerous pollution out of a hot gas stream even at incredible temperatures.
Traditionally, hot gas filtration has been a high turnover business. The ceramic filters that were used worked well enough in high temperature – but did not last very long, because of the heating and cooling they were subjected to. Modern high temperature ceramic filters, though, have been redeveloped to perform to their full capacity for much longer periods of time – due, in no small part, for better performance and high level effectiveness.
One company was fitting high temperature ceramic filters to its tailor made filter systems – and finding that the systems were performing less well than they should have because the filters they were buying in from a third party were not able to perform with maximum efficiency for as long as they would have liked. After shopping around for a while the British company in question decided to spend some money on research and development in order to make its own filtration units: ones that would be capable of coming up to the mark.

The new high temperature ceramic filters built by this company have an operating temperature of 450 degrees centigrade and above. They actually work with increased efficiency when the temperature of the hot gas stream being scrubbed rises – the high temperature condenses the ceramic material and ensures superb rapid filtering even in extremely dangerous environments.

Needless to say, these advances in hot gas filtration have made the whole process of cleaning hot gas streams much easier. And that has made the lives of companies that produce hot gas stream a lot easier too. Many of these industries are absolutely vital (as is often the way with processes that can produce lethal offshoots) – so to have a new generation of high temperature ceramic filters that are assured of continuing with 100% cleaning efficiency over a tenable life span is a huge improvement on the old state of play.
Thanks to the research and development investment of this one British company, the world hot gas filtration industry is able to install and maintain bespoke filtering systems that have a reasonable shelf life. That means less money is spent on kit – and so more money can be spent on continuing to research new ways to use high temperature ceramic filters more efficiently.
