Error Message – Subdirectory entry refers to invalid directory block – in Novell

An error message while mounting a particular volume in Netware operating system can be caused by file system corruption, incorrect value returned by the first block entry, virus infection and more. Once the error message occurs, the data stored in the particular hard drive volume becomes inaccessible. In such situations, if the user has not maintained any back up of the inaccessible data, then the user needs to use effective Novell Recovery software to completely recover and restore the data.

As a practical scenario, when a user attempts to mount C: volume, he receives the below error message:

"FILESYS- X-308: Subdirectory entry refers to invalid directory block. "

The main cause of the above error message is that the operating system encountered a problem while mounting the volume. The problem occurred because the first block entry did not return the correct value (zero) that resulted in volume corruption. To remove the above error and access the data stored in the hard drive volume, the user needs to run an inbuilt utility known as VREPAIR. VREPAIR enable the user to repair the Netware file system. After executing the VREPAIR utility, the user needs to restart the computer system. If the user receives the same error message after restarting, then the user needs to recover the data stored in the volume by using an efficient Netware Recovery application. This Novell Recovery utility incorporates advanced scanning algorithms to recover and restore the lost data.

It is recommended to use Stellar Phoenix Novell Data Recovery software as it provides finest Netware Recovery when the important file data structure(s) has got damaged or corrupted. This Netware Recovery software is available in two different forms – Stellar Phoenix Novell (NWFS) for NWFS Data Recovery and Stellar Phoenix Novell (NSS) for NSS Data Recovery. This Novell Recovery read only utility provides interactive user-interface and is compatible with storage media including Multi-Disk Drive- IDE, EIDE and SCSI. It supports Windows 2003, 2002 (XP), 2000, NT, ME and 98. This Netware Recovery utility recovers data even when the VREPAIR utility fails to perform.
