How To Clean Cd’S In A Super Duper Quick Jiff

Hey, it’s a downer when CD skip right when your jamming to your favorite tunes, or wose when your reading a data CD on your computer it chokes with an error message.

Cheer up, it may not be that bad, and all that CD may need is some tender lov’n cleaning to get it working again. Let’s do it!

1. Prepare your Cleaning materials
For this little project of cleaning CD’s you’re going to need some isopropyl (Rubbing Alcohol), it’s going to cut through the grime in no time (and that rhymes so It must be true).
A Cloth preferably 100% cotton, soft and free of lint.
A dish to pour out your isopropyl, and of course your dirty CD.

2. Fix your mix
Pour out the isopropyl into the bowl, enough to cover the bottom of the dish; about as much as you would pour for a kitten if it where milk.

Dip the 100% cotton cloth in the rubbing alcohol so it’s simply damp. You don’t want it soaking wet; damp is the key word here, where not impressing anyone with a soaking wet cloth.

3. Wipe away the Grodys
Yes, now we wipe, and we wipe good, and we wipe proud. We also wipe the right way and that is to wipe from the center out to the in one line. We do not go around the CD, we wipe across the CD from the middle to the edge.

Why do we wipe this way? Well, if by chance you where wiping with a cloth that was scratching the CD (just a little), then your scratches would be across the "pits" (which represent the data on the CD). Having scratches across the CD pits are more tolerable by the reading head in CD players then scratches in paralleled with data pits (that would be case if we zipped around the CD in a circular fashion).

4. Finish up
Excellent you CD is done, free of grime, oil, dust and dirt. Pop that bad boy into your deck and give it a spin. Does it work without a skip?
