Our computer hard drive usually is not used as a solitary drive, but is generally divided into several parts called partitions. It is done at the time of formatting; by a process known as partitioning. A hard disk partition is a section or part of hard drive, treated as an individual drive by the operating system.
As it is important to keep the user files separate from operating system files, to keep the regularly used data and programs together, for the use of dual booting and so many other tasks. It also isolates the files and thus make the file system recovery easier.
