Power Loss in Write Cached Enabled System May Cause File System Corruption

In order to increase the performance of your system, Microsoft Windows allows you to enable disk write caching. With no write-caching enabled, every write to hard drive includes a performance hit while system waits for hard drive to access correct location on hard drive and write data to it. Disk write caching writes data on the drive more efficiently. But in some situations, it might interfere with certain application and even the file system. It could damage the file system and render all of the Windows partitions inaccessible.

This behavior of Microsoft Windows results into partition loss situations and require Windows Partition Recovery to be sorted out. Some third-party applications on your Windows computer need disk write caching option to be disabled or enabled. Additionally, enabling the disk write caching feature might increase the performance of your Windows operating system. You can easily enable or disable the disk write caching by following the below steps:

  • Right-click on My Computer and then select Properties.
  • Click on Hardware tab.
  • Select the Device Manager.
  • Click on the + (plus sign) next to Disk Drives bran for expending it.
  • Right-click on the hard drive on which you like to enable or disable the disk write caching and click on Properties.
  • Select Disk Properties tab.
  • Click the Write Cache Enabled check box to clear or select it as appropriate.
  • Click on OK button.

When you enable the disk write caching on your Windows hard drive, you might encounter the following warning message: “By enabling write caching, file system corruption and/or data loss could occur if the machine experiences a power, device or system failure and cannot be shutdown properly.” As stated in this warning message, if file system corruption occurs, you can not access your hard drive partitions. In such cases, Partition Recovery is required to retrieve lost hard drive partitions. Windows Partition Recovery can easily and quickly be performed using third-party applications, known as Partition Recovery Software.

They use high-end scanning techniques for quick and absolute recovery. These recovery applications come equipped with simple and rich graphical user interface Thus the tools do not demand sound and prior technical skills to carry out recovery.
