Microsoft Access is the widely used software to create databases, reports, store information, macros, queries, tables, share information, forms, and modules.
A database is created to collect and organize information. This information can be about people, orders, products, employees, budget and so on. As the storage space in the database maximizes, increases the chances of corruptions.
A database file can get corrupt, damaged due to many reasons, the saved tables, information, queries can get damaged due to the following reasons:
1.If a query, report or form is being run
2.If a record is updated or
3.Any damaged table
When these kinds of situations happen, the following error messages are displayed which signify such kind of corruptions:
For table corruptions: “#Error”, “Jet has stopped the process because you and another user
attempted to change the same data at the same time”
4.If you use Jetcomp to compact the database, the following error is displayed; “Records cannot be read, no read permissions on MyDatabase.”
In cases of damaged or corrupt tables, you can try the following method to recover data from the corrupt access database file:
1.Copy the table
2.Paste the structure of the damaged database table to a new one.
3.Simultaneously open the original and copy of the database.
4.On the damaged table, select ‘Datasheet View’, then select the entire record by clicking on the blank buttons to the left of each record. Now, copy the records from the damaged database table.
5.After switching to the new table, line up the pointer at the same location as it was in the damaged database table. Now, click Paste.
6.You can test the table after each copy & paste process.
7.Repeat the first 4 to 6 using single records or smaller groups records. You might get an error while testing the records, and replace any data which cannot be moved to the new table.
8.When all the records have been moved to the new table, create a new database file with different name.
9.Now, import table and other un-damaged objects into new database.
10.As the table import process gets completed, Exit the program.
11.Rename the corrupt database file with a new name and move it to a new location. Remove the .Idb file of the damaged database (if it exists) and move the new database to new location.
12.Now, rename the new database file with the damaged database file name.
Following these steps you can eventually recover data from the damaged MS Access database files. But if in case, you are unable to recover data from corrupt Access database then try the Corrupt Access database repair software or an Access Recovery software available for free demo download.
