Using a third-party Windows recovery software to recover data from an inaccessible system

Posted: Nov 18, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

In the Windows systems, the registry hive is a system file that contains the keys, subkeys, or values of the registry in the system. For each user profile, a separate registry hive is created by the operating system, which is called the 'user profile hive'. Sometimes the user registry hive becomes corrupt due to hard disk corruption, virus infections, abrupt or unplanned system shutdown, etc.

In such cases, you would not be able to start the system and have to look out for ways to fix the registry problem and recover Windows data. If you are unable to address the problem, then you should use a third-party Windows data recovery software to solve the issue.

Consider a situation in which you are unable to start Windows 2000 system as it is displaying the following error message at startup:

"Stop: 0xc0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SYSTEM or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable."

Cause:

This Stop error occurs because of the following reasons:

If Windows is unable to load an essential registry hive file during the system startup. Such problem can occur if the file is corrupt, damaged, or missing due to hard disk corruption or some other hardware problem.
If the driver has corrupted the registry data while loading into memory, or the memory where the registry is loading has a parity error.

Resolution:

To resolve this problem, you perform the following methods depending upon the particular cause of system inaccessibility:

Start the computer in the Recovery Console, and run the 'chkdsk /p' command to scan and repair the disk-related errors.
Start the system and press SPACE BAR when the 'Load Last Known Good Configuration' message appears.
OR Complete a parallel Windows installation using the appropriate steps.
If the problem is due to a parity error, then you should turn off the external cache and check the memory chips. Restart the system after that. It should run fine now.

However, if the system still remains inaccessible even after performing these methods then you should take the services of a third-party Windows recovery software to recover the trapped data. These read-only tools are very interactive in nature that make the Windows data recovery very easy to perform.

The best data recovery software that recovers Windows data from various storage devices like hard drives, pen drives, memory cards, etc, is Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery. With the ability to work on FAT, NTFS, and exFAT file systems, this Windows data recovery software is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, Server 2003, XP, 2000, and NT4(SP6).

In the computer systems, the hard drives are divided into logical parts, called partitions, that seem as if there are distinct hard disks altogether. Partitioning the hard drive serves some good purposes such as to keep the user data and program files separate from each other, or to keep important data away from the boot partition so that the data remains safe in case of data corruption
