Volume Block Manipulation during Boot Process Cause File Loss in Windows

The disk defragmenter utilities, which are running on top of Microsoft Windows Vista and 2003, have the possibility of causing critical damage to the operating systems and your precious files. Tools that carry out volume block manipulation during boot process in Windows Vista and 2003 are the cause of serious file loss. In such critical situations, you should go for File Recovery solutions to get your valuable and mission critical files back.

Disk defragmenter applications, which perform tasks before the boot process complete and Autochk.exe program finishes its operation, are the most common examples of volume block manipulation applications that cause file loss in Windows. When the volume block manipulation tools manipulate the volume blocks during boot process, either by using FSCTL_MOVE_FILE control code or directly, the drive volume might become un-mountable. When this behavior of Microsoft Windows Vista and 2003 occurs, along with file loss, the operating system also becomes unusable.

Grounds of this issue

Windows Vista and Windows 2003 use files in “VolumeNameSystem Volume Information” folder, which is related to the snapshots that are created by Volume Shadow Copy Service. These files contain names, which have the following GUID:

{3808876B-C176-4e48-B7AE-04046E6CC752}

When any application alters the storage location of data blocks that are used by these files in boot process, this situation occurs. You may also come across this situation when a volume block manipulation tool overwrites the memory blocks, which are used by these files.

Nevertheless the cause of this issue, the ultimate result would be the loss of your business critical files. In order to gain access of your valuable files, you need to perform File Recovery by resolving this issue.

Resolution

There are two possible solutions of this problem:

To resolve the operating system un-usability issues, format the hard drive and reinstall Windows Vista or 2003.

To recover lst files, use File Recovery Software to thoroughly scan entire hard drive and extract all of the lost, missing or inaccessible files from it.

The  File Recovery Software are powerful third party applications, which use efficient scanning mechanisms to ensure absolute recovery of all your lost files. These software are fairly easy to use and thus do not require sound technical skills to achieve absolute recovery. With read only and non destructive design, these software are completely safe to use.
