All of the back-up files provided by the plug-ins are stored as compressed files. Being a single compressed file allows it easily portable to your external hard disks or pen drives for multiple backups.

The copies are sent to you via email. It is advisable for you to use gmail account as it allows you to have 20MB of storage space for each backup. With a much larger website database you might want to consider other backup options due to the 20 MB size constraints.


cPanel solution – can support large backup files as well as a full website backup. A substantial strength of a cPanel backup approach is that it allows full website backup contrary to plug-ins which handles only specific files.

•    To backup by means of cPanel, first get a FTP program such as filezilla, Ipswitch WS_FTP etc.

•    And then Log into your cPanel account

•    Explore your Phpadmin then proceed to your WordPress website files

•    Press the Export Tab then choose to add/drop table

•    Check the option that allows you to complete the inserts

•    then click the save as file check box

•    Check none for compression except if your database is huge

•    Proceed with hitting the backup button


Choose whatever backup that suits your need. Whatever backup option you choose is fine as long as you do. With backups your blog or internet business will practically be untouchable.
