11 Great First Dates

So you’ve finally worked up the courage to ask him or her out on a date. This could be the first step towards eternal love, so you definitely don’t want to screw it up. First impressions count and the night has got to be special. There are endless ways to spend a memorable first date. But just in case you’re drawing a blank, I’ve compiled a list of creative and traditional ways to woo your honey.

1.    Take a class. It can be anything from painting to cooking to yoga. It’ll be a great way for the two of you to bond over a new experience. And who knows, maybe you’ll acquire some new valuable skill.

2.    Go for a long walk. If you like being outdoors, this can be a great icebreaker. You won’t have to make too much direct eye contact and you can just let the conversation flow. Check out local parks or beaches.

3.    Go bowling. If you’re looking for a low key date, going to a bowling alley is a perfect choice. It’ll take some of the first date pressure off and give the date a playful air.

4.    Cook a meal together. Make sure you everything prepped before he or she comes over. This way you can cook a romantic meal for two without too much emphasis being placed on the steps involved.

5.    Check out a local amusement park. You’ll have plenty of time to talk while waiting in line and it’s an easy way to have a great time. Plus all of the built-up excitement and anticipation will be a great way to strengthen your bond.

6.    Visit the zoo. There is so much to do and see at the zoo, you’ll never be short on conversation topics. Plus there are usually tons of food vendors and usually some musical concerts thrown into the mix.

7.    Go to dinner and a movie. This is a classic first date, but it never gets old. Check out the movie before dinner so that you’ll have plenty to talk about afterward. Movies are always great icebreakers.

8.    Visit a psychic. Even if you don’t believe, it can be a playful and fun way to get to know your date. It’ll open up conversation to all sorts of topics about the future, personal beliefs and irrational fears.

9.    Go for a drink in a dive bar. You can sit on some comfortable bar stools and chat or just do some serious people watching. Either way, it’s sure to be an interesting night.

10.    Go window shopping. This is an easy and fun way to keep the conversation flowing without too much pressure. You can even stop for coffee or a bite to eat at some point during the date.

11.    Have a picnic. This is another traditional date, but for good reason. Stop at a local farmer’s market on the way there and pick out some fresh fruit, vegetables and cheeses. Grab a nice bottle of wine. This combination is sure to give the date a romantic, low key touch.

And the list goes on. Just try your best to be creative and low key for the first date. You want to show him or her that you’re interested, but you don’t want to scare them off. Don’t let those pre-date jitters get to you, just relax and have a good time. As long as you have some great conversation, then you shouldn’t have to worry too much about the setting.
