The new service called ‘RSVP on 3’ is the newest development in mobile dating in the Australian market, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
"It is an inevitable evolution to the online dating phenomenon and will be quickly adopted by daters who want access to instant loving any time," RSVP's marketing manager, Melanie Bowman told SMH.
It seems that with major players now getting involved with implementing mobile dating services, the technology might become serious business in the Australian online dating segment.
Although the technology exists for quite a while already and innovator markets like Japan having jumped on the new trend already, now seems the time that mobile dating could now do what online dating did years ago: become mainstream.
Singles can upload a profile and browse possible prospects’ profiles with options to view photos and videos, search sexy profiles and send and receive "kisses" and flirty chats. The technology provides complete mobility in the dating game: You may get ‘flirted with’ can get it when you're walking your dog, drinking at your local, slumped over the desk at work, in the bath or going for a run - you can get it anywhere.
Either party can initiate the date and, yes, it does cost: it's $39.95 for five "stamps" (that breaks down to $7.99 for each date – you pay more for a vodka and tonic in a bar.)
Social commentators are predicting the decline of our society – but you can't stop progress, especially when it comes to one of the most commercial markets in the world. After all, research shows that looking for love in cyberspace is one of the most successful ways to find a partner, so this seems the next logical step.
