Breaking Up With Me And I Don't Know Why

If your girlfriend has recently broken up with you, yhen you're going through a very painful experience. If it's your first breakup or your fifth – it never gets any easier. The emotional pain may be a little different between teenagers and older men, but it's still pain. An emotional pain that, during the initial phase of the breakup, feels as though it cuts to the quick – as though it will never go away. During this time you're sure to ask yourself, “Why is my girlfriend breaking up with me?” Everyone asks this question during and after a breakup.

There are three answers to this eternal question. There is only one that you can do anything about.

1. She is breaking up with you because SHE has a problem.

2. She is breaking up with you because there is another love in her life.

3. She is breaking up with you because there is something wrong with you.

It's possible that your girlfriend is breaking up with you because she is afraid of commitment or that she wants more freedom as she goes away to college or starts a new job. Maybe she has personal issues about which you can do nothing. Whatever it may be, to keep your girlfriend, you need to tray and maintain a sense of normalcy – for both of you. Maybe it's something you're even aware of and want to help her with. Maybe you will have to let her go so that she can see for herself what truly matters to her. Bottom line if you're girlfriend is breaking up with you because of her own personal issues, you can't do much but be there for here; and that includes letting her go if need be.

It is possible that your girlfriend is breaking up with you because she has found someone else. Again, there isn't much that you can do in this situation except be there for her – as a friend if need be. Don't make it worse than it already is. Don't act out your hurt and anger and lose her for all time. Everyone has to make their own free decisions when it comes to relationships – and a breakup is no different. You can be there for her, but the reality is that she cheated on you – will she cheat on the new boyfriend?

Finally, it's possible that your girlfriend is breaking up with you because of – YOU! Maybe you do things that she just doesn't agree with. Or maybe she just doesn't understand some of the things that you do. It could be something that you don't think is much of a big deal – something that might actually be kind of fun - but it that bothers her in a big way. Whatever it is that bothers her, stop it. You have to decide what is more important. If it is something that you have a problem with or that she thinks you have a problem with, give her the courtesy of at least getting it checked out. Communicate with your girlfriend that you understand her concerns and will try to take care of the problem, or whatever the issue is.

Unless you talk with your girlfriend, unless you communicate with her, there will be a final breakup and you will still be asking, “Why did my girlfriend breakup with me?”
