It may seem like they are just bothering you right now with all their calls to get you to come out, but your friends really do have your best interest in mind. Many of them have probably been right when you are now and already know one of the best ways to ease breakup pain. Your friends won't try forever to get you to join them letting you deal with the breakup recovery on your own, so while the window is there take the opportunity to let them help you.
Having a Guy's Night Out to get over your girlfriend is surprisingly effective. You may have to have a few in a row if you feel it necessary, but you'll soon be feeling while they were asking you to come out. Your friends want to be there for you during this time and they want you to know that they are. This is one of their ways of giving back to you for being friends with them. It may not be what you feel you should be doing, but they're not wrong in what they suggest.
A night out lets you temporarily forget your problems. That doesn't sound like good advice either, but diverting your mind to anything but your ex girlfriend is probably what it needs. You may need to pretend you're having fun or make yourself have some fun, but just by being there you've taken a big step. Spending too much time thinking about your ex will drive you crazy, especially if you are not making progress of any kind.
Some lessons of caution during your time out with the guys will keep these nights out simply fun outings and not anything you need to pick up the pieces after later. Either don't drink alcohol at all or go easy on it. Drunk dialing has set more than it's far share of potential couples back and possibly even ended all chances. You don't want to end up with an embarrassing one-way conversation that you may also need to apologize to her about after. So have fun, but don't get so drunk you end up doing something you'll regret tomorrow.
