Until I found out otherwise, I was making the same mistakes as everyone else with no results. This is nothing to be ashamed of. After a break up everyone feels emotional and makes rash decisions. I know that when I broke up, or better yet got dumped, with my fiance I wasn't thinking right. I was calling and texting numerous times a day. I figured that if I wasn't constantly in contact with her that she would forget about me and I would be out of her life forever.
That is an irrational thought that I had because of the situation. It is exactly the wrong way to go about getting them back. If you are separated or on a break it is because something isn't working in the relationship. Just accept it and move on to figure out exactly what it is. The less time you spend being miserable about the situation is less time that you can spend fixing it and getting your life put back together.
So take some time and let your ex also figure out what it is they want and what it is they don't want. They won't run off and get married if you don't stay in contact with them. Let them have a chance to miss you and think about you. This can't happen if your always trying to contact them.
Now you should be figuring out what to do with this spare time that you have on your hands. This time can be used productively or you can waste it. You should spend this time doing what you love. Is there something that you have been neglecting because of the relationship? If so, then take time to get back into it. I played a lot of golf and it was very relaxing for me. These activities that you love are when you will be doing your best thinking. They put the mind at ease and let you think clearer. So take advantage of this time.
