What is a SNAG (Sensitive New Age Guy), What is a Masculine Man and Which do Women Really Like?

Let's face it - a couple of decades ago, we all got a little too 'politically correct' and created the SNAG.

Madonna added fuel to the fire with her catchy lyrics: "You know, you know you've got to make him express how he feels...maybe then you'll know your love is real."

Guys got confused and out came the dozen roses and daily "I love you" comments. But why didn't it work?

When it comes to attracting women, women aren't interested in overly-sensitive nice guys who express their feelings all the time.

For those of you who aren't up to speed - SNAG's have been deleted from the 'wish lists' of women all over the world.

Common traits of a guy who has taken the S.N.A.G (Sensitive New Age Guy) thing TOO far. He might:

- Be 'too polite' to women.
- Cry at a wedding or during a soppy movie.
- Tell you that he's in touch with his feminine side and that a lot of men are 'jerks' and should just be a nice guy like he is.
- Be attracted to women who 'mother' him.
- Find that he can relate better to women. Yet, when you look closely - he never gets to date any of them.
- Be a shoulder to cry on for women, when they 'complain' about the drama with their boyfriends (who are not SNAGs).
- Like wearing pink.
- Use feminine body language and tonality at times.

Granted, there are SOME women who actually find those traits attractive.

Usually, they are the women who want to have the power in the relationship so the guy is chasing them, or who just want ANY guy NOW.

However, for the most part, modern women like their men to be MEN.

So, if SNAGs are the leftovers from the 'too politically correct 90s' what's on the menu in the modern world?

Quite simply, masculine men are back and they're here to stay. Common traits of a masculine man. He:

- Can enjoy the emotions of a wedding or a soppy movie, but doesn't need to cry to express his appreciation. Example: He will express his emotion through body language, tonality and by emphasising some of his words.

- Expresses masculinity through his behaviour and psychology. Example: By being an alpha male and taking the lead.

- Knows how to make a woman feel feminine/like a woman. Example: Behaves like a man around her and encourages her femininity.

- Isn't usually attracted to women who refuse to play the feminine role in a relationship. Example: Miranda from Sex and The City. Example: Especially the way Miranda dressed like a man in the early parts of the series and behaved like a man when with the character 'Steve.' Granted, it was mostly Steve's fault for behaving like a girl.

- Is usually attracted to women who take care of their physical appearance, enjoying playing the feminine role and who challenge and inspire him to be an even greater man than he is.

Example: The more traditional type of woman, who can be in awe of her man and his purpose in life, while also having dreams of her own.

- Knows what he wants in life. Example: Has purpose and direction.

- Is confident when interacting with women. Example: Doesn't show signs of nerves through body language, words and actions.

- Relates well with women and also gets to date as many of them as he likes. Example: This is the same for alpha males in the human mating game, as well as the animal mating game.

- Is often the guy that women are talking about. Example: Why? Because he makes women feel emotions that a SNAG simply cannot.

- Doesn't wear pink. Example: When the trend was at its peak, a lot of metrosexuals in Western Society began wearing pink, getting facials and sometimes even wearing make up.

What guys need to realise is that none of that is necessary when it comes to attracting women.

The ideal type of guy that women are looking for can be summed up as follows:

Not a nice guy, not a bad guy - a good guy with edge!

To develop some edge, guys need to work on...

- Becoming more masculine: This doesn't necessarily mean building big muscles, because masculinity is largely attributed to: Body language, behaviour and actions.

- Mastering the art of conversation: A lot of guys find it hard to talk to women, because they're too worried about what the women will think of them.

Guys just need to relax, understanding that, for the most part, most women are just as nervous in social situations.

- Learning the art of flirting: A lot of guys hesitate with flirting, because they don't want to offend women. The reality is that most women crave the tension that flirting creates.

- Unleashing their hidden attractiveness: Since confidence is numero uno when it comes to attraction with women, most guys can boost their attractiveness simply by working on this area.

- Learning how to build and maintain tension and interest: This links back to guys hesitating and being too nice. Niceness doesn't create tension.

- Understanding what women want from men: What do women want? Men.

- Using attractive body language: With the metrosexual trend came waves of guys influenced by Carson and his crew from Queer Eye. Unless you want to attract guys, or masculine women - don't behave like those guys.

- Understanding how to stop being nervous around women and start being confident, challenging and exciting.
