If there was one skill every man should have, it would be how to approach women. Think about it, if you don't know how to approach women, you're watching the girl of your dreams walk right past you day after day and not doing anything about it.

Obviously, the way you approach a woman will determine how the rest of the interaction will go. There's many schools of thought on how to approach women, I'll give you an idea of what I found to work best for me.
I started as an AFC (average frustrated chump) and spent four long years in the trenches, I was like a mad scientist ...researching every secret pick up technique in existence, learning everything there is to know about meeting women and about the things that cause women to feel attracted to men.
In my years in the seduction community, I studied every single ebook, CD, video, course, and seminar I could find and I tested it using online dating sites.
You'd think I was going for the RECORD or something.
And just so you know, I'm just your average single guy with an average physical appearance.
What I did got so much attention, it led me to be featured in several "double your dating" programs, featured in Playboy, Vanity Fair, Wall Street Journal, ABC Nightline, teaching men how to approach women using online dating sites.
So I guess you can say I learned a thing or two about meeting women.
Approaching women is like anything in life, the more you do it, the better you get. If you stop doing it for a bit, you get rusty (just like when you haven't played basketball in two years).

Here's how I would approach women:
As you can imagine, attractive women are approached daily, so as a result, they've got their defenses up, ready for another "cheesy" pickup line.
Knowing this, you need to come off DIFFERENTLY.
First, your mindset is the most important thing - go in thinking positive, your goal is to give off the "cool, fun but I'm just curious" vibe. (most guys tend to give off that "creepy" vibe)
Your frame should be "I'm curious about you", which is very different than most guys who are trying to "get" a woman, knowing this your body language and attitude are going to be different than the rest of the guys who approached her.
Second - make eye contact with the girl you want to approach. If she looks away, and turns her body away from you, this might be a "signal" she's not interested. (you'll know if she's interested before saying a word, this increases your success rate BIGTIME!).
Third - SMILE. Seriously, you'd be amazed how many guys approach women with these straight stern faces oozing low energy, this is the opposite of that "fun, cool" vibe we talked about before. (women can sense this low energy, thats why you strike out.)
