Despite the popular notion that Single life is carefree and easy, some would argue that it can in fact be stressful. That is…depending on your mindset and coping mechanisms. These three checkpoints/questions will help Singles determine if a little mind maintenance is necessary:

The Questions:

1. Have you ever really considered how you feel about being Single?
Whether your feelings are positive or negative who do you believe is in control of these feelings? Would you say the influences of Society, your friends, family, or you?
2. Would you consider yourself to be lonely? This scale will give you a general idea:
The Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale
Directions: Indicate how often you feel the way described in each of the following statements. Circle one number for each.
NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES OFTEN
1. I lack companionship. 1 2 3 4
2. There is no one I can turn to. 1 2 3 4
3. I am no longer close to anyone. 1 2 3 4
4. I feel left out. 1 2 3 4
5. My social relationships are superficial 1 2 3 4
6. No one really knows me well. 1 2 3 4
7. I feel isolated from others. 1 2 3 4

D. Russell, L.A. Peplau, and C.E. Cutrona, "The Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale: Concurrent and Discriminant Validity Evidence," " Journal of Personality and Social Psychology 39, no. 3 (1980): 475.
3. Do you worry about how long you will be Single and how your life will be better when you are in a relationship or married?

The Results:
If you found that you were on the negative side of this three-point check, you are like many other Singles who tend to equate their status with their sense of fulfillment and overall happiness. Now that you know, make conscious choices about how you filter the thoughts and perceptions about being Single that can undermine a more healthy state of mind. Chronic stress and negative thought patterns, whether it’s about being Single or other things, isn't just frustrating, research has demonstrated that it can be a serious health risk. Your life is complete as it is right now! How you live as a Single is a personal choice, and one does not need to be coupled to have a fulfilling life! You only need a strong Sense of Self and the Right Attitude.

What A Reunion
By: acappy | 03-07-2008
I am a single man and was at a reunion lasts week with people I used to hang out with back in the 70's. An old Girlfriend who also is single showed up and we were seeing one another after 37 years .When we met she didn't know who I was and when I said my last name she then wrapped her arms around me and said she was so embarrassed there were smiles all around . She said how great I look and suddenly said that she was mad at me . I said for what , she was mad because I called her a lesbian when she didn't let me break her cherry .I was in a state of numbness I said that I didn't say that to her and then thought that we both were virgins when we dated, she came back with saying that her old boy friend Terry was the one who broke her cherry . I really lost my train of thought for a moment I really didn't come back with to much of a reply seems we just both turned and went different ways I found out that she was with her boyfriend at the reunion. We didn't cross paths the entire evening .So what are your thoughts on this reunion.

This love is crazy
By: micheeeeeeeee | 03-07-2008
This summer I planned on being a counselor for bible camp. There I saw these 2 good looking guys 1 w/ blonde hair and blue eyes and the other a little uglier but more muscluar. I spent half of the week at bible camp swooning over the blondie, then I realized I liked the brown haired one, Matt. He comforted me when I saw the ambulance going towards my aunt's house during camp, and he sounded like he cared. He is a great guy and I was a counselor for his little sister who loves me! My friend says he is weird and not popular & has issues & his mom helps him with alot of stuff & he is stupid. I know he isn't the best looking guy, but isnt love not finding the perfect guy but seeing his imperfections perfectly? Im a believer in love at first sight, i just think that msot people don't see it at first. I can say I love him but i wont see him until next summer & its driving me crazy. he is a year older than me and i said bye to him but its just driving me crazy. HELP
