Money is No Object and They Never Want to See You Again

We live in some rough economic times right now. With companies moving to much cheaper climates or closing up shop altogether, the future has become uncertain for many of us. Even before that for far too long a good deal of people were and still are living from check to check. Making ends meet is becoming a never ending battle. 

This doesn't apply to everyone. The information age and the growth of the internet has also given rise to more opportunities than ever before for the average working class individual to take charge of their economic destiny. Maybe you are one of these people; if so congratulations. 

The trick is in how you carry it particularly in a dating relationship. Some folks cannot help themselves. They are doing very well and it seems like they have to let their date and everyone else around them know it.

So you start strutting like a peacock. You go to an upscale eatery and tell your date to order everything and anything on the menu. They are needless to say astonishingly pleased with your generosity. If only you could let it go at that.

You don't. As a matter of fact you start crowing about your healthy portfolio; going on and on about how next year is going to be even better than this year. At first your date was interested now they are just bored. However that boredom is about to turn into annoyance and resentment directed straight at you because now you start to laud it over them a bit.

Your date is not poor but they don't make as much money as you. No big deal except you let them know it by constant bragging and subtle digs at them. No doubt they cannot wait until this nightmare comes to an end.  

Besides the mistake of arrogance on a date which is a major turn off for many people, there is one other blunder that rivals your ego boosting escapades. You let the money act as a stand in for who you really are.

Maybe you're one of the kindest human beings that anyone would ever want to meet.  Bragging incessantly about your new car, big house or ever growing bank account can give your date a false picture of the real you. Pretty soon they stop seeing a person and start visualizing a walking ATM machine. That's not going to make you happy if the two of you decide to pursue the relationship further.  

Show some restraint in your dealings. If you have it like that and want to share with your date some of that good fortune; then do it. However it is not necessary to wave your tax return in their face. That's none of their business. Let your economic situation stay in the background and keep the product known as your personality front and center.

Being a go getter is a very good quality that is to be commended. It shows you want to get the most out of life as well as enjoy it to the fullest. That should make your dating partner very happy. But setting yourself up on a higher pedestal due to your economic success is asking for trouble. Your date may not have it like that but they do have something more valuable to bring to the table; themselves. Respecting this and reciprocating in kind is something money cannot buy.
