One of the most common questions that I get asked is "Derek, how do I overcome feat and shyness with women?" The solution is actually mindbogglingly simple. Read on.
First of all, let me tell you almost all men would go through the same experience.
There have been countless of times for me in the past where I have noticed a girl and literally froze at my seat for hours, trying to summon enough courage to walk over to talk to her. Which never happened in the end.
I am going to tell you how I finally overcame that fear with one simple tip. STOP THINKING ABOUT GETTING THE GIRL'S NUMBER.
By detaching yourself from the outcome, you will take the pressure off the whole thing. You will enjoy the interaction and let the conversation flow as naturally as possible.
If you're nervous, you can bet that the girl is doubly as nervous as you. On the other hand, if you're calm and confident, the girl will feel comfortable with you.
If she gives you her number, then great. If she doesn't, it's fine too. Don't push yourself too hard on getting her number.
Bottom line - take one step at a time. Overcome your shyness first, and everything else will follow. Do this a couple of times a week (or a couple of times a DAY for the motivated!), and you'll realize how easy it is to strike up a conversation with random women.
