Susan was feeling very devastated after a break up. John had decided to broke up with Susan but still love John very much. She tried calling John over and over again but it seems that John was purposely avoiding her and not picking up the phone.

1) You are probably feeling too emotionally devastated to be able to do or say the right things to your ex. It is better to wait until you are feeling better.
2) Your ex may be going through the same thing as you. Just because it is your ex who initiated the break up doesn't mean he/she does not feel devastated. You want to give your ex more time to recover as well.
3) If your ex is avoiding you now, it doesn't necessary mean he/she will avoid you forever. Try contacting him/her one month later. Who knows, he/she may be ready to talk to you again.
