According to many in Society, members of the NSSC are considered to be the men and women of today who are financially and emotionally independent, so they do not need a partner to support or “complete” them. New Selfish Club Singles are also said to value their freedom so much that they are less prepared to compromise in a relationship. They are selfish and self-centered by many standards.

What Is the Problem?

Despite the statistics that cite the age of those entering first marriages as growing increasingly higher, attributed in part to the reasons mentioned above, insightful selfishness can be a fantastic thing. It is only a problem when it contradicts the goals of the Single person involved.

Who Is An Insightful Selfish Single?

An Insightful Selfish Single is the person who has established a level of self-confidence and a clear vision that results in guilt-free lifestyle choices. Those who know this Single recognize the unmistakable message that they are a separate individual with needs defined by them.

How Do You Become a Member?

There are four rights of passage to become a member of the Insightful Selfish Single Club:

1.	Eliminate Guilt – Remind yourself that you have every right to be the Single person that you want to be and that means making choices about who, when, and why you enter a relationship.

2.	Be Firm – If you receive messages about being too self-absorbed and for being Single, reply with assertion, “I respect your opinion and I would like you to extend the same courtesy to me as well”.

3.	Establish Boundaries – Be consistent and stay true to guidelines that you have developed for yourself. Learn to say no.

4.	Honor Your Success – Give yourself credit for being confident enough to define your needs and preferences. In the end, self-awareness, a solid foundation and compatible interests among two people are important factors for future success.
