Futures Markets: Energies and Financials Reviews

A week has gone, I hope you have been doing well. Back to the futures markets, as usual, we cannot be lazy. Always, there are many things for us to care for our trading and this week has no exception. Now, just take a tour to see what have been going on in the markets!

First of all, just have a look at the Financials market , as noted by our expert - PitGuru Frank LaMantia, when traders start buying defensive stocks, this should be a stop sign for investors. One should ask how long do these traders plan on holding these stocks. It is always good to get a reference point to see where they think the market will turn around. From this, one can study the technicals and try to find some sort of rationalization in this market.

Some weeks later, kids will go back to school, then the market could jump due to cyclical buying. Maybe, this is a good news that traders and investors are waiting for. Those traders and investors believe the winter months could bring profits to certain companies. So, September and October could be rally months and then sell-off before the holidays. Companies like Staples may get a jump in earnings due to back to school sales. Does this mean all defensive or cyclical stocks will be up? No, this means trends have formed in the past with various stocks at certain times.

Let's watch the S&P for the resistance levels in the 1050 range if the market does sell-off. Mr. Frank writes the S&P is trading at 1070 and is up a few points but things can change throughout the day rather quickly. Data will be announced this week so traders are testing the waters this morning with small buy orders.

In the daily life, besides currency and money, gold or other metals are also markets listed in the caring list. Now, we will take some more minutes to turn to the metals reviews. To traders in this market, PitGuru Daniel Cronin is not the strange name any more. He is considered as an expert who has shared with us reviews and analyses on the market for help. According to Daniel's analyses, precious metals rallied again last week to $1,240 in gold as investors dove into safe haven markets as the equity markets headed lower on bad economic data.  The Sunday night session saw a bit of profit taking as gold was down to $1,229. Silver for December delivery fell 0.3 percent to $17.995 an ounce. Platinum for October delivery was 0.2 percent lower at $1,511.70 an ounce and Palladium for September delivery added 0.5 percent to $478.50 an ounce. Silver has now lagged behind gold significantly as this market cannot get above $19 and slowed mightily when trying to pass $18.50. He believe the market will see this profit taking occur until the GDP numbers this week.  Then all bets are off as the market is predicted to react heavily to these numbers.  For now, this market will hang at $1,220 in gold. Copper is believed to take profit as well and look to trade around $3.25 to $3.30 ahead of GDP numbers as this market got to the resistance at $3.39 last week and quickly got sold back to $3.30 as the S&P liquidated to 1170.  He said: "Copper has been very strong to date but I think it will stall here until further notice as the market awaits the significant GDP number."
