Applications of Painless Laser Dentistry

As technology puts a new chapter in today's generation, dentistry does not want to be left out. The field of dentistry continuously emerges to provide people with solutions to different dental problems. Laser dentistry is just one of them. In Chicago, many dentists perform different dental procedures through the help of laser dentistry.

Laser dentistry simply utilizes lasers to cure dental problems. These devices emit light to transmit heat energies that would conveniently aid procedures, allowing them to be done in a quick manner.  This also allows dentists to perform procedures that are difficult when conducted traditionally. Laser dentistry can also be combined with traditional procedures to aid the latter by reducing the pain and duration of the operation.

Laser dentistry has also been beneficial for many patients because of its ability to reduce pain during the procedure. It also encourages people who suffer from dental anxiety and phobia to overcome their fear of enduring dental treatments. Lasers also reduce the possibilities of bleeding and swelling.

There are many dental cases that can be cured by painless laser dentistry. Chicago dental clinics believe that the dynamic quality of lasers can treat, cure, and detect dental tumors. Cancer detection can be conducted with laser dentistry through biopsy, a process wherein a small tissue is removed by a laser for further examination. Nevertheless, laser dentistry is used frequently to treat tissue problems.

A variety of soft tissue and hard tissue procedures can be performed with painless laser dentistry. Chicago dentists use laser to reshape tissues and gums to prevent formation of periodontal diseases. Some procedures done with laser dentistry for soft tissue are muscle attachment, crown lengthening, gummy smile, and soft tissue folds. On the other hand, painless laser dentistry can also be used for cosmetic purposes like teeth whitening.

Severe dental diseases can also be treated by painless laser dentistry. Chicago dental experts utilize laser dentistry to treat cases of sleep apnea and Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ). Lasers work to reduce the pain and inflammation of TMJ disorder while tissues in the throat that cause sleep apnea are reshaped. Laser dentistry is also practiced in other procedures such as nerve regeneration, cold sores and tooth sensitivity.
