Dental Implants

Cosmetic dentistry is the result of huge technological advances made over the last few years that have expanded the reach of standard dentistry into a much broader scope of medicine. And while dental implants have been around for a while these, too, have vastly improved over the last few years. Cosmetic dentistry offers so many more options today that what you thought you knew just a few years ago is probably outdated, now.

Dental implants are artificial roots that are permanently implanted in preparation for replacing missing teeth. Once implanted, bone and tissue grow around the implant holding it securely in place. These roots can be used to secure a natural tooth or another type of restoration (dentures, dental bridges, partials, and dental crowns)

Not long ago your choices for replacing missing teeth were pretty much limited to dentures and bridges. While living with gaps was, and still is an option, it isn’t everyone’s first pick. Not only can you, now, fill the gaps with implants that can hold up to ten teeth, your new implants will be permanent and far more secure than dentures or dental bridges.

Another plus that implants offer over dentures is their secure placement. Dentures can move around in your mouth. Many of you have experienced the wonderfully embarrassing moments when your dentures made those funny, telltale noises, or, worse, just fell out of place. Those of you who have endured the pain of inflamed or raw gums caused by dentures will appreciate the value of dental implants.

If you have an active career or social life, you will appreciate, too, the convenience of implants. No longer will you have to worry about these embarrassing moments, especially when you’re just about to close an important deal. Neither will you have to make any special effort unique to caring for dentures. Just care for them as you would your natural teeth.

You can’t drop your implants or lose them. And, this is special: they will never, ever, ever get knocked into the toilet, nor will your puppy select them as a favorite toy. (Go ahead, laugh now. But when it happens to you it won’t be so funny.)
