Laser Dentistry Offers Plenty of Advantages

Laser dentistry offers plenty of advantages that just are not possible with the use of conventional dental methods. One of the main advantages of laser dentistry is that there is generally no need for anaesthesia as the laser process is virtually painless, although some may experience minimal discomfort. Treatments heal faster and do not need stitches, also the chances of further problems such as after treatment infections are greatly reduced because the lasers clean the problem area effectively.

There are many uses for the laser to be performed upon the teeth, here are a few:

Detection of Cavity – Lasers not only help to cure and treat problems but they are also an excellent tool in detecting problems as early as they become a problem. The laser can detect cavity within the tooth at its earliest stage therefore hopefully preventing further problems from occurring further down the line

Tooth Fillings - The fillings are not only applied precisely, but bacteria is also eliminated and destroyed in the process, leaving a more sterile and clean surface for the filling to do its job.

Treatment for sensitive teeth – No longer do you feel that you have to suffer from sensitive teeth when eating or drinking your favourite foods as laser dentistry can offer a cure for this common problem.

Tooth whitening - Laser dentistry offers lasting and almost instant results when it comes to whitening teeth. Teeth can be whitened up to 10 shades, and it only takes generally an hour with the dentist in the single trip.

Treatment can also be performed upon the gums and the main way that lasers help the gums is helping along the treatment for gummy smiles. Treatment for gummy smile helps you to achieve the smile you always wanted with the help of lasers. Lasers help show more teeth instead of gums by reshaping the gums, so that when you smile you smile predominantly with your teeth not your gums.

No doubt you've seen people whose smile displays a lot of gum tissue. Called a gummy smile or excessive gingival display, this condition can distract from an otherwise attractive smile. A gummy smile makes the teeth appear smaller than they are and the mouth much bigger. No matter how spotlessly white your teeth and beautifully shaped your lips are, you will never be truly comfortable smiling if you have a gummy smile.

No two mouths are the same. The look, elements and the way these elements function inside a person's mouth, as well as any dental problems that may be present differ from those of another individual. Add to that people's varying concepts of what's pleasing or what works for them and you have a dental situation that can run the gamut of simple to most complex. To create a one size, fit-all dental treatment that does not take into consideration such uniqueness is a mark of a bad dental practice.

Sedation dentistry basically means that a person is under sedation while undergoing their dental treatments. Such as cavity fillings, dental implants or root canal therapy.
