Nourishing Your Smile

A beautiful smile is more than just attractive teeth. If you want to have the best smile possible, it’s important that you maintain the health of your teeth with healthy everyday dental habits. By making sure you keep your teeth healthy, you can have a smile that is brilliant for many years to come.

Highly trained and experienced cosmetic dentists meet with people all the time who would have excellent smiles if they had just taken care of their teeth to begin with. Other patients receive cosmetic dentistry procedures like Lumineers®, dental bonding, white fillings, and porcelain veneers, but then fail to nourish their smiles, requiring future restorations.

Nourishing your smile is something you can do everyday by following a few simple oral health habits:

Avoid Tobacco

Tobacco is terrible for teeth and the body in general. In terms of your smile, tobacco products can darken teeth, causing them to look yellow or even brown.  They can also increase your risk for serious gum disease, resulting in tooth loss and bone loss. If you are still using tobacco products, it’s time to stop now.

Eat Healthy

As a part of your body, your teeth need to stay healthy by getting the right vitamins and minerals. You can accomplish this by eating the right fruits, vegetables, and meats during the day and avoiding sugary, sticky foods like candy that promote cavities.

Eat the Right Amount

People who eat just a few times during the day and brush their teeth after their meals have much fewer cavities than people who snack throughout the day. The reason for this is that you aren’t constantly feeding the bacteria in your mouth by constantly eating. Eat just during meals and you will have less tooth decay.

Brush and Floss Daily

Everyone has heard that they are supposed to brush and floss their teeth everyday, but there are still millions of people out there who are ignoring this helpful advice and are still brushing only when they feel like it. Brushing your teeth everyday is the best thing that you can do for your smile.

The primary concern of any dentist is the health of your teeth, and cosmetic dentists want to provide you with a beautiful smile that will last for years to come. Nourishing your smile will ensure that you don’t need to have serious dental procedure performed in the future to repair what goes wrong.

If you are already suffering from the effects of tooth decay or gum disease, cosmetic dentists can help you regain your smile with a variety of different procedures like tooth whitening and dental implants. The first step toward regaining a beautiful smile is scheduling an initial consultation.
