The Pros And Cons Of Wearing Clear Braces From Invisalign UK

Posted: Mar 12, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

As a result of a great deal of media interest a growing number of people have been looking into the idea of choosing clear braces for teeth alignment. On the surface it would seem that clear braces, or invisible braces as they are sometimes called, offer an enormous number of advantages, not least of which is the fact that during the teeth alignment process the visual appearance of the teeth is far improved, boosting people's confidence in their own appearance.

But many people have been expressing concern regarding clear braces, suggesting that you cannot have such a revolutionary new solution which offers so many advantages without there being some disadvantages or problems as well. With any new treatment, from laser eye surgery to invisible braces, it is always important to consider both sides of the opportunity, both the advantages, and any disadvantages. Only then can anyone really make up their own mind as far as whether it is an appropriate solution for them.

What works for one person may very well not work for somebody else, and so simply knowing that somebody else has chosen to wear clear braces rather than metal braces doesn't necessarily mean that it will also work for you. So what is the reality as far as invisible braces are concerned, and how do they really compare to metal braces in terms of both the benefits and the possible downsides?

The first thing to be aware is that clear braces are actually manufactured from a form of plastic and are a moulded form which fits over the teeth, covering them almost completely. Because the material from which they are made is almost entirely transparent, and the material itself fairly thin, they are very difficult to see.

This means that anybody wearing clear braces can smile happily knowing that most people won't even realise that they are wearing braces at all. This is one of the main reasons why people decide to wear clear braces, but there is another advantage as well, and it's to do with the end result.

When traditional metal braces are fitted it is generally down to the dentist's own professional judgement and intuition as far as how the braces should be fitted in order to encourage teeth to what should be the right position and angle. Although in almost every case the results are accurate and a definite improvement, there is an element of guesswork involved.

This is not the case with clear braces, especially those from one of the leading manufacturers of invisible braces, Invisalign UK. The process involves a highly accurate mould of the teeth being made, and transferred to computer where it is then possible for the dentist to manipulate your teeth in virtual reality.

The teeth are moved in 3-D virtual reality to their desired final position, and the computer then generates a series of stages from your existing teeth alignment to the preferred final alignment. But this process cannot be achieved simply by wearing one single set of clear braces, and if you choose braces from Invisalign UK you will be required to visit your dentist every two weeks throughout the entire process, as each time you visit you will be given a new set of clear braces which are slightly different from the previous set, nudging your teeth further and further towards the final predetermined alignment.

This is a commitment which is important to consider, and for some people having to visit their dentist every fortnight, even if the entire process takes months rather than years to complete, is more than they are prepared to accept. However, if this does not bother you, then certainly investigating further the many benefits of clear braces will be a good idea.
