Ask someone who has suffered from the toothache or gum disease and he or she will tell you that it is one of the worst painful situation individual can suffer. However, the beginning of such situation is only due to the careless attitude towards the brushing your teeth and maintaining good oral hygiene. For many of us brushing our teeth is just a monotonous exercise that often done just for the sake of doing and without observing it's effect on the teeth. Maintaining good oral hygiene and practising better cleaning procedure is extremely important to prevent not only plaque and gum disease but also to have the teeth in best condition without bad breath that turns anyone off. And all of these good oral cares starts with some easy but careful brushing techniques and choosing right toothbrush matching to your teeth size and denture design. In this article we will discuss some of the easy to follow tips to keep your teeth shining and gum healthy.

Most of the toothbrush fails to reach the most critical part of the mouth where normally you can find the plaque and food debris. This is because larger toothbrush cannot reach there easily. It may be possible that you need to use interdental brush also apart from using regular brush as it can easily removes the collected food particles from the gaps between the teeth. But make sure while choosing an interdental brush as it should be as soft as possible and can move inside the gaps without too much pressure. Below mentioned are some of the tips that you can use while selecting a toothbrush for you and for your family and also some of the brushing techniques that will help you to get better cleaning.

 
• Always choose a good branded toothbrush with smaller head. Large head fails to reach to the end part of your teeth and can cause many dental problems. While smaller head can easily reach to the end part and gives maximum cleaning.

• Choose the toothbrush with softer bristles. Nylon bristles are best on teeth surface. Hard bristles of the toothbrush damage the gum surface and also cause bleeding in opened gum.

• Brushing techniques are as important as choosing the right brush for your teeth. One should brush their teeth at least twice a day and not more than thrice a day. It is also important to use interdental brush after every meal to clean the gaps between your teeth. Brush your teeth from the right angle to get maximum cleaning.

• Generally people used to clean teeth only from the outer surface while inner surface and opening part of the denture remains untouched most of the time. In reality this is the place where one can find plaque and cavities. So, clean your teeth from the all sides rather than just cleaning it on the outer surface.

• Make sure you use toothbrush with long and flexible handle as it makes movement easier inside your mouth.

• Cleaning of toothbrush is also important and it should be done thoroughly with running water. If possible clean your toothbrush with hot water to make it germ free.
