How to make the famous indian Dessert-Carrot Halwa or Gajar ka Halwa
Gajar Ka Halwa or Carrot Halwa is a very popular recipe in India. It's basically a sweet dish made out of Carrots. Learn how to prepare Gajar Ka Halwa by following this easy recipe:-

Ingredients:-
- 1/2 kg fresh Carrots
- 1/2 litre milk
- 250 gm Sugar
- 2 cups of Ghee
- Handful grated cashew nuts raisins and almonds
- 1 tsp Cardamom Powder
How to make Carrot Halwa:-
- First Wash the carrots.
- Then grate the carrots finely.
- Soak the raisins in water for 30 minutes and keep aside.
- Now take a frying pan and pour the Ghee in it.
- When the Ghee becomes hot (not smoky) add the grated Carrots into it.
- Now Stir the mixture continuously and cook it for 8 to 10 minutes.
- When the Carrot becomes little tender add milk to it.
- Again cook the mixture for few minutes.
- After than add cashew nuts to it and cook for half an hour
- Add sugar and cook until the sugar dissolves and all the milk has been absorbed.
- After that add half of the raisins and cardamom powder and mix well.
- Remove the Halwa from heat and pour in a serving dish.
- Garnish with almonds and remaining raisins.
Your Halwa is ready.
You can eat it when it's a little cool.
You can also add khoya to it. Khoya can be found in any Grocery store.
If you are conscious about calories then you can cut down the amount of ghee used here and instead of it can do the same cooking with oil. Later you can add 2 teaspoon of ghee before removing the Halwa from the heat to have the aroma and taste of ghee. But doing the whole cooking in ghee gives the dessert the real desired flavor.
Small Tip: - If you are not serving immediately, then you can refrigerate the Halwa and reheat and can serve whenever you desired.
