Travelling and children do not usually go together very well and any journey can be difficult to plan. If you are looking for a good family vacation area there are a number of things worth taking into consideration. Getting the destination right can mean a fantastic memorable vacation, get it wrong and you will also have a memorable vacation but for all the wrong reasons.
1. The number one family destination has for many years been in central Florida. Disney World is packed with fun and excitement for everyone, from the youngest of children to elderly grandparents. Staying in the resort gives everyone a magical feeling of being transported to another world altogether. It is possible after all for you and your family to have breakfast with Goofy or lunch with Icky Mouse or even Snow White. Children's faces just light up with pleasure and excitement as they see their favourite character for the first time or get the chance to experience their dream ride in the theme park. What more could you want at Walt Disney world there are four such theme parks to choose from Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios,The Magical Kingdom and The Epcot Centre. You Can also choose between Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon
which are the two water parks, these are open all year round. Believe me there is much much more, how about Pleasure Island for the adult and some serious shopping at Down town Disney and you will never go hungry because there are a multitude of restaurants and cafes around the resort.
2. Family vacation packages which offer lots of activities but is more educational are also available. For example the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. The resort offers all types of activity such as golf and tennis with tuition available, and has a beautiful marina. There is also a kids camp where the kids can enjoy great activities such as yoga and swimming and there is also a games room. The resort is located close to Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia and you can easily drive to Busch Gardens theme park and for a more cultural experience there is historic Colonial Williamsburg. The mixture of Kingsmill resort and Williamsburg is a great way to enjoy a vacation which has plenty of activity, relaxation and excitement but with some education along the way.
3. The Treesort in Takilma, Oregon is an excellent destination for the adventurous family. Here you can experience a Swiss Family Robinson Style vacation in tree houses high above the ground in the tree tops. In total there are eighteen different types of tree house to discover whilst having a great adventure on the swinging bridges, wooden swings as well as in the forts and on platforms to climb. The the less faint hearted the great attraction is the rope course which boasts a 160 foot long zip-line. If you prefer the safer option there is the fresh water swimming pool and many other attractions which are situated firmly on the ground along side the camp-site.
4.Paradise Island's Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas is a wonderful place to go if you are looking for a family vacation in the tropics. There are a huge number of attractions to keep the whole family entertained. You will find everything from eleven swimming pools, water slides and lots of rides for the kids, to the Mayan drop. This actually plunges the riders down a six storey huge slide into the water - not for those who do not like heights! At the resort you will also find a wide variety of activities such as snorkelling, golf and sailing excursions all allowing you to enjoy the beautiful tropical outdoor surroundings. There is also a club for kids under the age of twelve called the Discovery Channel Camp where they can have lessons about the local sea life as well as doing arts and crafts and various other activities even guided expeditions. This is most definitely always a hit with the youngsters! For the adults there is just as much to keep them occupied with a full casino, lots of shops and even a couple of dance clubs. This is a vacation which definitely has something for everyone.
5. If you and your family prefers snow to sand where better to go than Snowbird Resort found in Snowbird Utah. On the ski slopes kids under the age of twelve ski free of charge. However there are many more amenities other than the ski slopes. In the winter you can take part in numerous activities including snowboarding, luging, snowmobiling, skating and snow shoeing. All year round you will be guaranteed entertainment in the form of live concerts and the resort also plays host to many ski races and competitions. There are ski camps and schools for the kids and there is a child care service for those under twelve years of age. Adults can take time-out to relax in the spa and fitness club also at the resort.
