There is a multitude of activities on offer for the holiday maker in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is growing at a rapid rate. It was just a village a little over 50 years ago. It is a testament to the vision of Sheik Zayed. Sheik Zayed was the principal architect of United Arab Emirates (UAE), was the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of the UAE for over 30 years (1971–2004).

The island city has many interesting places to visit, including beaches, heritage sites, parks and museums.

Shopping

Gold Souk

A Souk is a market place and the Gold Souk is the market to visit if you are looking for a jewellery bargain.

Iranian Souk

This Souk has an eclectic range of goods, which are replenished twice a week by boats from Iran.

Culture

Al Ain Museum

Based in an old fort, this museum has photos from the time before the oil, weapons and traditional Bedouin jewellery.

Culture Foundation

The Culture Foundation displays Islamic and international art and holds music recitals and theatre productions throughout the year.

Heritage Village

This offers a glimpse into the days before the oil. You can also get up close to a camel!

Dhow Building

At Al Bateen you can see craftsmen use traditional tools and techniques to build dhows.

Sightseeing

Hili Archaeological Garden

This is a Bronze Age settlement, and is around 4,000 years old. Fossil Valley is close by.

Liwa

Here you can find some of the world's largest sand dunes. There is plenty of fun to be had in four wheel drive vehicles and for those who can get up in time, there can be outstanding sun rises.
