Amsterdam - City Of Variety

Amsterdam is one of the most popular European destinations for holidaymakers. Whether you’re looking to spend a weekend exploring the city or are looking for a stopover during your backpacking excursion, Amsterdam has something for everyone.

Despite a somewhat adult reputation – thanks largely to the famous Red Light District - Amsterdam has a wide variety of attractions to suit all tastes, from museums to music festivals, and is also a popular destination for those who like to cycle during their holidays.

There is a wide range of accommodation available in the city, from hotels and hostels to houseboats on it’s famous canals. Hotels in Amsterdam are easily accessible, although it’s best to book hotels and flights to Amsterdam early to avoid disappointment, particularly during festival periods.

For those who enjoy a stroll round a museum, Amsterdam has a lot to offer – from modern art to historical locations, including the world famous house of Anne Frank – and many of the main museums are accessible by foot and cycle.

There are a number of music festivals that Amsterdam plays host to throughout the year – including the 5 Days Off tour, the Holland Festival and the classical Grachtenfestival. So whether you like classical concerts or electro beats, Amsterdam will have something to offer you.

With cheap flights to Amsterdam available from most UK airports and a ferry service that sails from ports along the east coast, getting to the city is relatively simple. And with a variety of sights and sounds to suit all tastes, Amsterdam is one of the prime locations for tourists in Europe.
