An hour feels like a minute on your African safari when...

-  You are watching a lioness in the Masai Mara stalk its kill

- During the farewell dinner on the last night of your African safari, you look around to the many friends you have made, realizing that you probably won't see them in a long time and spend the next hour trying to forge lifelong friendships.

- You are listening to a lecture about a particular animal's  behaviour whose intelligence you had totally underestimated (it was the African Elephant for me), dispelling your initial fears of how boring the lecture would be!

- You arrive at your Africa Hotel in the middle of 'nowhere', and open the tent to find unexpected luxuries.  The next hour is spent "oohing" and "aahing" the many delights before you decide to soak in the tub for "just a couple of minutes " and before you know it - you are late for dinner.

- You are in your room going through your day's shots on your camera and you hadn't realized just how amazing some of these were

- The four hour drive to the park that you were dreading? - Turns out not to be so dreadful after all!  The roads aren't nearly as rough as you were lead to believe, kids waving at you on the way and the scenery is simply breath taking.  The steady flow of cold drinks from the cooler box keeps the spirits high all through

- You are shopping for a last minute "piece of Africa" to take your friends and family back home and: (1. You realize that you want almost everything on display
(2. Your choice items would all look just perfect on your wall, or on your neck, fingers or wrist - and you can't possibly see yourself parting with any of it (3. Know perfectly well that your budget can't cover your purchases but keep haggling with the vendor for just a little more discount in the little Swahili you have learned over the past week - all these while trying to ignore the look of  irritation on your companions' face

Visitors to the Masai Mara have the opportunity to see them all and relax in five star lodges. Mara Sara Lodge or Kikorok Lodge are situated in the center of the park. These lodges are top notch, but the most luxurious and enchanting place to experience the wild is to stay at one of the array of tented camps on the fringes of the park.
