Argentina Travel: Ten Reasons To Start Planning Your Vacation

Posted: Mar 16, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

What makes Argentina such a great choice for your next vacation? Here are ten reasons why you should choose Argentina over anywhere else.

  1. Buenos Aires – The lively capital city has enough to offer its guests that if your vacation began and ended here you would feel satisfied. From beautiful colonial architecture to pulsing nightlife there is something to do any time of the day or night.
  2. Iguazu Falls – Iguazu Falls pushes 61,660 cubic feet of water per second. It is arguably the biggest waterfalls in the world and is absolutely magnificent. You will not regret a visit to this spectacular natural site. You can visit the falls from both Argentina and Brazil and it is recommended that travelers see both as the perspectives are very different but equally remarkable.
  3. Valdez Peninsula – Fly to Puerto Madryn from where you can visit the Valdez Peninsula, a beautiful nature reserve and World Heritage Site. A tour of the Valdez Peninsula visits Puerto Piramides, the only town on the peninsula with between four and five hundred inhabitants.
  4. Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego – Ushuaia is considered the southernmost city in the world. The scenery here offers breathtaking views of snow-topped mountains, the Beagle Channel, lakes and vast natural forests.
  5. Perito Moreno Glacier – Just 40 miles from El Calafate, this gigantic glacier is 200 feet tall and the most amazing glacier in the park. Visitors are afforded intimate access with walkways and footbridges that allow you to get up close and personal to this amazing natural wonder.
  6. Bariloche – Bariloche is the hottest ski and snowboard city in South America. In addition to being the outdoor sports capital of Argentina this city is a cultural center as well, with the beautiful Museum of Patagonia, the Palaeontology Museum and the Cathedral.
  7. El Chalten – With the icy peaks of Mount Fitzroy, Cerro Torre and other famous summits grabbing your attention, El Chalten should not be missed, especially by trekkers. Known as the ‘trekking capital of Argentina' there trails in and around the surrounding mountains, offering light hikes to serious mountaineering treks.
  8. Mendoza – Mendoza is the kind of city where you go for a visit and never leave. Its sluggish pace, beautiful countryside and surrounding vineyards and lovely people are likely to enrapture you from the moment you set foot in this country.
  9. Salta – This sophisticated capital of the northwestern part of Argentina is a cultural center with lots of museums, cathedrals and churches. There are an endless of options outside the city in the region, such as outdoor sports: mountain biking, trekking, motorcycling, etc. The salt flats are absolutely beautiful and the famous Train to the Clouds offers fantastic scenery through rugged variable forest.

10.  Ibera Wetlands – This nature reserve located 600 miles north of Buenos Aires is a swamp land that is more than 5,000 square miles. It is loaded with wildlife including Caiman, capybaras, swamp deer, howler monkeys, anacondas, manded wolves, armadillos, etc. You can take excursions by boat, on foot or on horseback.
