Situated in the Anantagiri area approximately 1400 meters above sea level, the caves are believed to have a special religious and archeological importance. Another renowned historical spot in the city is the Bojjana Konda excavation site which is said to be a heritage site of the Buddhists. Other Buddhist excavation sites in Visakhapatnam include the Thotla Konda, the Bhavi Konda and Salihundam.
