Aula Paolo VI in Rome

The Synod is about to end, but walking together under the guidance of the Word of God continues. In this sense, we are always in "synod," a common path to the Lord under the guidance of the Word of God.The Instrumentum laboris spoke about the polyphony of the Holy Scriptures. And I think we can say that now, in the contributions of this Synod, we have also heard a beautiful polyphony of faith, a symphony of faith, with many contributions, even by the fraternal delegates. So we really felt the beauty and richness of the Word of GodIt was also a school of listening. We listened to one another. It was a mutual listening. And just listen to each other we have learned to better listen to the Word of God We experienced how true the words of St. Gregory the Great: Scripture grows with those who read it.

Only in the light of the realities of our lives, only in comparison with the reality of every day, you discover the power, the hidden riches of the Word of God We see that in comparison with reality opens in a new way also the sense of the word given us in Scripture. So we are truly enriched. We have seen that no meditation, no scientific reflection can pull themselves out of this Word of God all the treasures that you discover the full potential only in the history of all life.I do not know if the Synod was more interesting or edifying. In any case, it was moving. We are enriched by this mutual listening. In listening to another, better also hear the Lord himself. And in this dialogue of listening and then learn the deeper reality, obedience to the Word of God, the conformation of our thoughts, our will and the thought that obedience to God's will is not freedom to attack but develops all the possibilities of our freedom.I have come now to the point of having to thank all those who worked for the Synod. Now I dare not list all the individuals who have worked, because many forget some.

But thank you all for the great job they did: The President delegates, the rapporteur, with his secretary added, all the speakers, consultants, technicians, experts, auditors and uditrici, from which we learned things moving. A hearty thanks to all. I am a bit 'uneasy, because I think that we have violated the human right of some to sleep and also to the rest of Sunday, because they are really fundamental rights. We must reflect on how to improve this situation over the next Synod. I would like to say thank you now also the company that has prepared us this wonderful lunch and all those who served. Thank you for this gift. Now we begin to process the post-synodal document with the help of all these texts. This will also be a school of listening. In this sense we are together, we hear all the voices of others. And we see that only if the other one I read Scripture, I can enter into the richness of Scripture. We always need this dialogue, to hear the Scripture read from his perspective, his vision, to learn together the richness of this gift. Now I wish you all a safe journey and thanks for all your work.
